The project «e-Youth-Elections: Understanding and Gamifying the EU Elections» is a KA210 Erasmus+ Youth project led by AC Amics (Spain) in partnership with Tudatos Ifjúságért Alapítvány (Hungary). The project aims to combat youth disinterest and low participation in the 2024 European Elections by promoting active citizenship, EU awareness, and critical thinking through innovative, playful methods. Using gamification, non-formal education, and co-creation, the project empowers young people (aged 15–19) to explore how the EU works, why voting matters, and how institutions affect their lives. Activities include interactive workshops, the creation of educational games, and local awareness actions. The project promotes cross-border dialogue and strengthens the role of young people as informed European citizens.
During this project, we wanted to develop 1 game to understand better the EU institutions and processes, but we ended developing 2 games and collecting a lot of other interesting tools for this purpose. We have been specially impacted by the virtual simulation of the EU parliament (LINK).
Our tool is a collection of little activities and challenges that lead to wining the game. We created inside this game 4 different games:
- Quizz
- Simulation
- Role Game
- Matching challenge
Each one of this little games will support the process of learning and discovering about the different EU institutions and bodies, and by playing all of them, we can confirm that the full idea of the EU will be more clear.

BONUS GAMES AND TOOLS: During the creation process, another game was developed and it wasn’t integrated in the MissionEU game, so it stood as a stand-alone game based on Taboo about the EU institutions (Link here). LOCAL ACTIVITIES: Both in Spain and Hungary, the two organisation have been developing 2 local workshops to share and test with the local youth the game that we have created.
19-23/July/2024 – The 2 groups of youth from Spain and Hungary met in Brussels to do the activities of the project, to share the games, to discover about EU and to present the results there. We had the opportunity of going to the House of History of EU, to the Parliament, to the Comission, to the Comitee of the Regions and also to enjoy a lot the local culture. A very interesting experience that made an excellent closing for the project and gave us time to think together about the follow up and future.
